The Chicago Chapter of National Association of Black Journalists hosted a panel on Wednesday, September 19, offering an inside look into the careers of the industry’s most notable journalists turned press secretaries.

“Career Insider: Behind the Scenes With Spokespersons for the Politically Powerful” included: Monroe Anderson former press secretary for Mayor Eugene Sawyer, Avis LaVelle former press secretary for Mayor Richard M. Daley, Tarrah Cooper former press secretary for Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Roderick Hawkins, Deputy Chief of Staff for Public Engagement, Office of the Mayor, and Jackie Heard, former press secretary for Mayor Richard M.
