I called City Winery the day of the Alice Smith concert, literally just a few hours before showtime. According to the website, tickets were sold-out, but I decided to take my chances and call the box office anyway. I’ve been in Chicago 3 months already and have not stepped foot in one concert. Chicago. There’s literally a concert somewhere in the city every day and most certainly every weekend.
I missed M.I.A. in concert last night. But tonight, staying home alone with snacks and Netflix was not an option…
Lucky for me, the box office made an exception for the sold out show and found a seat for me… At the table with her friends and at least one of her family members – her aunt – who no doubt lives by the adage, “Dance like no one is watching…” She had a great time and so did I.
Check out Alice on NPR discussing her latest album “She.”
