Stand Your Ground

It is always a joy to worship with Mt. Zion!

Tonight marks the end of a week long revival and I was truly blessed by tonight’s word.

Rev. Dr. Ozzie E. Smith, Jr, Senior Pastor of Covenant United Church of Christ in South Holland, IL offered a much different perspective on what it really means to “Stand Your Ground.” As believers, we are called to not simply be hearers of the word, but doers. This is no easy task and we must stand firm in our walk. Dr. Smith gave the following advice during these trying times:

  1. Hold on to the vision – provision is on the way.

  2. Let God guide – And He will provide.

  3. STAND YOUR GROUND

2 Corinthians 4:1-2

Since God has so generously let us in on what he is doing, we’re not about to throw up our hands and walk off the job just because we run into occasional hard times. We refuse to wear masks and play games. We don’t maneuver and manipulate behind the scenes. And we don’t twist God’s Word to suit ourselves. Rather, we keep everything we do and say out in the open, the whole truth on display, so that those who want to can see and judge for themselves in the presence of God. (The Message)
