Who is Christian Mitchell?

A graduate of the University of Chicago, Bronzeville resident and lifelong Chicagoan, Christian Mitchell began his political career as a community organizer in the faith-based community.

Despite the opposition faced for his support of pension reform and charter schools, he clinched the 2014 election by 556 votes. Many of the challenges faced as a youth inspired Mitchell to focus his community organizing efforts on improving the quality of life for single-mothers like his own. His most notable legislation thus far is a $425 million dollar state jobs program involving insulation, weatherproofing and upgrading of single-family homes in urban Chicago neighborhoods with a requirement to hire workers from those communities.

“If you do the job in front of you well, the future takes care of itself.”
